We are a Philadelphia-based bakery specializing in whole-grain, responsibly sourced bread and pastries. Our goal is to create food with more flavor and higher nutritional value. Since 2017 we’ve focused on finding the best ingredients as close to home as possible and, via farmers markets, getting them directly into the hands of customers with minimal processing.

THE POSITION

We are looking for a driver for the following tasks:

  • Transport products from our Philadelphia bakery to our NYC farmers markets Wednesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday

  • Drive to Halifax, PA on Thursday to pick up grain/flour and unload it at our mill and bakery spaces.

  • Pick up grain/flour from our mill space and transport it to the bakery as needed

  • Other transportation tasks as needed

The required schedule is Wednesday-Sunday, with work hours of roughly 4:30am-12:30pm on these days except for Thursday, when the work shift is 5:30am-1:30pm.

Our goal is for this to be a long-term position with room for increased compensation and responsibility as our bakery grows. We are a small, tight-knit team and are always looking for ways to collaborate and improve our processes with the goal of getting our breads and pastries directly into the hands of our customers. Our NYC markets are the backbone of our business, therefore we are looking for a solid, reliable person who we can work with in making the logistics of our NYC markets as streamlined as possible.

A TYPICAL WORKDAY

  • Arrive at the bakery in the morning by 4:30, load pastries and restock supplies into the van, and drive safely to the NYC market. On the weekends, we attend up to 3 markets per day, meaning you would be making multiple stops to deliver bread/pastries to different markets

  • Unload product and pickup any trays/containers from previous market to bring back to Philadelphia

  • Return to Philadelphia and unload van and put away empty crates/containers

  • Depending on the day, drive to mill space to pick up flour or other tasks as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a physically demanding job that requires long driving shifts, and lifting and moving of heavy objects.

  • Must be able to lift heavy objects of 50lb. or less repeatedly throughout the day, and comfortably move objects of 100lb+ on occasion

  • A typical shift will include 5-7 hours of driving, for up to 24 hours a week.

  • Must be comfortable driving different vehicles in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Must be extremely reliable, punctual and communicative.
